Being Florida-born and Indiana-raised, I've always considered myself a combination of salty and sweet—saltwater in my veins and sweet Midwestern manners. Since I was 14 years old, I have worked every job under the sun—from making coney dogs at an ice cream stand to rolling burritos at Chipotle to freelance writing about exotic cars.

All those little jobs eventually led me to graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Ball Sate University. After college, I knew I wasn't ready for a 9-to-5 office job, so I packed everything I could in one checked bag and a carry-on and flew to Fort Lauderdale to start my new life as a yacht stewardess.
